  • Take an interest in your customers and prospects. Take a sincere desire in learning to know them and their problems.
  • Be fun to be around and do business with.
  • Try new things. Don’t be afraid to be a little risky.
  • Be visible to people as much as possible.
  • Be credible – do what you say and when you say you’ll do it. If possible, get testimonials from past clients.
  • Have a message that is easy to understand and repeat to others.

Step 2: Be the Expert

People don’t like to feel like they are being “closed” by a salesman. They want to be guided by an expert and an advisor. They want to work with an expert who can help them solve their problems and meet their goals. So how do you become an expert? You’re self declared. Do your homework, study as much as you can and learn from other experts in the business. Join a coaching program or hire a mentor. By doing all of these things you are already an expert.

Step 3: What is “Your Type”

You can’t please everyone, nor can you do business with everyone. Therefore, you need to hone in on your target market. There is no point in throwing your car marketing dollars to the wind and reaching people that don’t want or need what you have to offer. Figure out your best target market and narrow your marketing efforts to that group of people.

Step 4: What Makes You Unique

What makes you different? You know it’s not the vehicles you sell. All auto dealerships have those. You must find what makes you unique and focus on that quality in your dealership. Make this the focal point of all your auto dealership marketing efforts.

Step 5: One Step at a Time
